After a trip to Indian Peaks Wilderness, Colorado in 2003 with good friend and RKC Steve Meidinger, my perceptions of effective training were never the same. In preparation for life and the mountains, Steve had been training with Kettlebells. In a short space of time he had increased his physical fitness far beyond mine. I, like most, had heard about Kettlebells but didn’t understand the methodology behind the apparatus. Shortly after returning from the trip I purchased my first Kettlebell and was immediately drawn to their simplicity and functionality.

By developing my understanding of Kettlebells and utilizing them in my training, I returned to the mountains stronger and faster every year. I wanted to share this amazing tool with my friends, so the ‘torture chamber’ opened in 2005. In the small garage of my house, armed with just a few Kettlebells and a desire for punishment, my friends and I pushed our physical and mental boundaries. Energized by my comrade’s equal passion and craving for Kettlebells I decided to take the Russian Kettlebell Challenge. In September 2008 I went through the most grueling and rewarding experience of my life and became a Certified Russian Kettlebell Instructor. This opportunity gave me the necessary tools to open Superior Kettlebell Gym in November 2008.

Kettlebells are my life, I live and breathe them and I truly believe in the RKC system. I use them as a tool to ready myself for the most serious situations I may face in the pursuit of my dreams. I am a passionate Alpine and Ice Climber. This has, and will continue to, put me in some unforgiving and hostile environments, environments that don’t accept physical or mental weakness. Kettlebells have prepared me for this.
